In 2017, 8 candidates were contesting for Vyara assembly constituency seat. Vyara was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Gamit Punabhai Dhedabhai won the election by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Chaudhari Arvindbhai Rumsibhai by a margin of 24,414 votes.
The top two candidates split 97.2% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Gamit Punabhai Dhedabhai got a total of 88,576 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Chaudhari Arvindbhai Rumsibhai secured 64,162 votes. Independent candidate Shankarbhai Babubhai Dhodia secured 1,473 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 56.4%, 40.8% and 0.9% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Punabhai Dhedabhai Gamit outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Gamit Pratapbhai Babubhai by 13,556 votes.
